How to Prevent Children From Circumventing HT Parental Controls

We understand the importance of security and have endeavored to safeguard our software from being circumvented or bypassed:

  • HT Parental Control cannot be bypassed using VPNs
  • The program works in private browser mode
  • Program uninstallation is protected.
  • The software can monitor and filter all accounts, including those with admin rights, even newly created ones

However, there are additional security measures you can implement to further protect parental controls from your tech-savvy and astute child:

  1. Create an Access Password for HT Parental Controls: Navigate to Menu → Set Password.
  1. Enhance Security: Go to Rules → Enhanced Security and activate 'Restrict access to Task Manager'. Remember to use User Settings to toggle the filter on or off for different accounts.
  1. We strongly recommend that parents have a Windows Administrator account and assign their child a Standard account. Learn how to change your child’s user account to standard to prevent program bypassing.
  1. Conceal the Program: In Settings → General Settings, select 'Hide the program'.
Note: To access HT Parental Controls after hiding it, use the designated keyboard shortcuts.
  1. Block unsupported browsers by selecting the appropriate category in the App Blocking tab.
  1. Use Keywords for Blocking: This helps avoid circumvention of Website Blocking and Limiting through browser manipulation. Learn more about keyword blocking.

If a child rapidly performs unusual manipulations in a browser, it may glitch with URLs, and HT Parental Controls might stop blocking a site. To counter this, use keywords from the banned site’s title in your Blocklist and Website Limiting list. Thus, HT Parental Controls can block websites by their titles.

Example: Add the keyword 'youtube' without 'com', 'https', or 'www', instead of 'youtube.com'. YouTube titles always contain this keyword. You can identify a website’s title by hovering over the site tab in the browser. Note that not all websites include their name in their titles; in such cases, other keywords should be used.
