HT Parental Controls Is Not Working
If you’re finding that HT Parental Controls isn’t working as expected, this guide is here to help. There can be several reasons for this issue, so let’s troubleshoot:
- Ensure that HT Parental Controls isn’t conflicting with your antivirus/firewall, Windows Family Safety, or other parental control software. Learn more about resolving conflicts.
- Look at the dashboard to confirm that HT Parental Controls is set to 'Active'.
- Navigate to Settings → General Settings and verify that 'Run the program when Windows starts' is checked. This ensures the program launches with your system.
- Review Computer Activity Reports: Under Reports → Computer Activity, check if the program was active throughout the computer’s usage. If the program’s active time is less than the computer’s uptime, HT Parental Controls might have been bypassed.
Note! The most common reason for HT Parental Controls not functioning correctly is due to bypassing. We strongly recommend enabling the Enhanced Security options and assign your child a Standard account to significantly reduce this risk. Learn how to secure HT Parental Controls against bypassing.
- In Settings → User Settings, ensure that all options are appropriately activated for your child’s account.
- Ensure your child is using a browser that is compatible with HT Parental Controls. We support Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Brave, and Opera. If your child attempts to bypass parental controls using an unsupported browser, you can restrict access using App Blocking.
- Occasionally, our customers may experience confusion distinguishing between apps and websites, struggle to identify the correct URL or app path, or have difficulty understanding the priority in the settings. Please send us screenshots of your settings, and we would be more than happy to assist you in configuring the app to suit your needs."
